The Next Big Step
The summer sun is shining bright, the school gates open wide,

And you stand here together, with a mix of joy and pride.

It seems like only yesterday you took your very first turn,

Through the doors of The Ferns Primary, with so much still to learn.

You’ve grown in strength, you’ve grown in mind, day by passing day,

In every single classroom, and out upon the play.

From the laughter in the corridors, to the lessons you’ve embraced,

Every challenge was an opportunity, every single fear you faced.

You kept your focus on the goal, with brilliant things in mind,

Always child-centred, leaving no one left behind.

And now the final bell will ring, the last page has been turned,

You’ll carry on the friendships and the lessons you have learned.

High school is waiting for you now, a brand-new stage to tread,

With bigger halls and different walls, and exciting paths ahead.

But don’t forget the roots you grew, the memories made right here,

The times you shared, the ways you cared, through every passing year.

So hold your heads up high today, Year Six, it’s time to fly,
