Literacy Festival

Along with two other schools, Northern Education Trust’s Mount Pellon, Merlin top and The Ferns primary academies took part in the MyBD5 Literacy Festival recently.  Children from Years 5 and 6 spent 12 weeks rehearsing with Actor and Director Luke Broughton, culminating in performances of Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Pig Heart Boy, in front of a live audience at the Kala Sangam Theatre in Bradford.

The children had worked really hard to perfect their characters, and impressed everyone with how much they had grown in confidence, and how professionally they performed.  They thoroughly enjoyed their experience, and some pupils received awards at an “Oscars” after-party following their performances.

The Ferns Primary Academy is a member of the Northern Education Trust.
We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care.
